Click Engineered Wood Flooring

Click engineered wood flooring is real oak that clicks together, with no glue or nails, and is more stable than a solid wood floor. Each board has a top layer of real oak bonded to a high density fibreboard core, so you get the grain, texture and warmth of oak in a floor that copes well with changes in temperature and works with underfloor heating.

Our engineered wood is from the Parkwood range by BerryAlloc: French oak with an extra-matt lacquer, in wide plank and herringbone formats and three colours. The boards and blocks click together. Samples are £1 each, with up to four per order, and arrive in 1 to 2 working days.

What is engineered wood flooring?

Engineered wood is built in layers. The top layer is real oak, which is the part you see and walk on. Underneath is a high density fibreboard core that keeps the board flat and stable. A solid wood floor is one piece of timber all the way through, which makes it more likely to shrink, swell or cup as the air in a room changes. Engineered wood gives you the same oak surface with much less of that movement.

Engineered wood or LVT?

Engineered wood and LVT both give you the look of a wood floor. Engineered wood is real oak, so every board has its own grain and the surface ages naturally over time. LVT flooring is a printed design under a clear wear layer. It is fully waterproof and usually lower in cost, which makes it the better choice for bathrooms and utility rooms. For living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways where you want real timber, choose engineered wood.

Wide plank and herringbone

Wide plank boards are 1190mm long and 185mm wide. The long boards show off the grain and give a room a calm, open feel.

Herringbone blocks are 504mm long and 84mm wide and are laid in a zigzag pattern. Herringbone suits period homes and modern rooms, and works especially well in hallways.

Colours

Parkwood comes in three colours.

  • Albatre is a pale white oak with a slight pink tinge, in wide plank and herringbone.
  • Nude is a very light beige with the look of unfinished oak, in wide plank and herringbone.
  • Nature has warm natural tones and a traditional oak grain, in herringbone.

Underfloor heating, care and warranty

Parkwood works with water and electric underfloor heating up to 27°C. The extra-matt lacquer is solvent-free and hard-wearing. Day to day, vacuum or sweep the floor and clean it with a well wrung-out mop. Every board comes with a 20 year residential warranty.

Real wood lightens or darkens a little with sunlight, and the tone varies from board to board. We suggest ordering a sample so you can see the colour in your own light.
